When brainstorming with Dan about where our next small adventure should be, he said the magic words that pretty much sum up the mission of this blog: “You know, there’s this one place…I’ve driven by it a lot and wondered what was inside.” Ding-ding-ding, we have a winner! And that’s how we arrived at the DW Correll Museum on Route 66 in Catoosa. Actually, it’s the DW Correll Museums, plural. Within the two buildings onsite, there are multiple extensive collections ranging from classic cars, to vintage toys, to Jim Beam decanters, to arrowheads, to old newspaper clippings, to seashells, to rocks and minerals. I have driven by the Tulsa Cave House my whole life, and always wondered about the story behind such a unique building. Was it a home, or a restaurant, or possibly a club of some kind? Turns out…it has been all of those things and more during its long life, and I got to hear about the house’s colorful history during my recent tour. Gorgeous Weather for a New Year’s Hike at the Ray Harral Nature Park
What better way to start 2023 than with some gorgeous weather and a New Year’s hike? What’s even better? Finding a new (to me) nature park just 20 minutes from home! I hadn’t heard about the Ray Harral Nature Park in Broken Arrow before visiting last weekend, so I wasn’t sure exactly what the day would hold. I hoped that we’d find some pretty trails for our hike, that the park would be safe and clean, and that we might find some signs of wildlife along the way.
